OLDHAM COUNTY TRAILS PROJECT
The Oldham County Greenways project was organized with the goal of connecting LaGrange to Pewee Valley with 13 miles of walking and biking trail. According to OldhamCountyGreenways.org the goals for this ambitious project are:
- Connect community schools, businesses and parks
- Promote healthy living
- Promote small town businesses
- Give kids and adults a place for sale, inexpensive activity
- Increase property values of existing land (Oldham County Real Estate)
Phase 1 of construction of the Commerce Parkway Trail began in September of 2008 in the LaGrange area with a 1.2 mile stretch of trail from the Oldham 8 Plaza and Oldham County Public Library to Allen Lane.
Phase 2 is currently under way and will connect Allen Lane to Hwy 393 with an additional 1.8 miles of trails.
